Registration

How does Summer Green work?

Summer Green makes it easy to access amazing financial services, at the click of a button through the mobile App available on Android and Apple devices via the Google Play Store or iOS, as well as walking into any of our branches. You can get instant loans, make all your financial transactions, and invest money with high interest returns.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes, there is a small amount requested to register as a member through our branch office. It is absolutely FREE via the mobile App.

Why is my Bank Verification Number (BVN) required to access Summer Green’s services?

We request your BVN and a photo as a security measure. This is used to verify that the individual using the Summer Green service is the same as the owner of the provided bank account. This is to ensure that your details cannot be used without your authorization, in the event a 3rd party has access to your account details.

Please note: Your BVN does not provide access to your account. If in doubt, we encourage you to confirm this from your bank before you proceed.

I don’t know my BVN. What do I do?

Just dial *565*0#.

Please note: This will only work if you are making the request from the same phone number currently linked to your bank account.

Why do you need my card details?

We ask for card details in order to receive your loan repayments on your due date. Summer Green understands that this is very sensitive information, so we have taken all available precautions and secured our platform with world-class encryption and security technology to protect your data.

Is Summer Green a bank? Where are you located?

Summer Green is a service provided by Summer Green Global Resources Ltd (RC. 1502763), a Finance company licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria. We can be reached online or you can walk into any of our offices, you can still reach us whenever you need via our customer support channels or any of our social media.

Can I update my banking / personal information?

You can update your banking details and all your personal information in the app. If you have a running loan with us and need to update or change certain details, please use the ‘Your Profile’ app menu, or contact us via our dedicated support channels for assistance.

Who should I contact to submit a comment, question or complaint?

You can drop us a message on customer@summgreenng.com and an agent will respond swiftly. Feel free to reach out to us any time via our dedicated phone lines or find us on social media (Twitter, Instagram).

What happens if I lose my device?

You’re safe! Your data provided in the app is secured by a 4 digit PIN created by and only accessible to you. This PIN is requested each time you open the app. Once you get a new device, just login to your account and your data will be right where you left it.

What do you accept as collateral?

Any valuable asset ranging from household items to landed property.

Loan

Can I use my savings as collateral for a loan?

Yes, you may.

Can I access a loan without a guarantor?

Yes. But the applicant would be required to offer some form of security for the loan.

Can I get a loan without collateral?

Collateral is not the prime consideration for granting loans but we may require some kind of collateral depending on the loan amount and our relationship with the loan applicant.

Can I use my daughter or wife as a guarantor?

No, Family members may not be used as guarantors.

Why was my loan application rejected?

There are a few reasons behind loan application rejections. The most likely reason is that we did not receive sufficient data to score your application. Please ensure you are signed into Summer Green Finance App using your main mobile device, and also keep your data on while using the app in order for us to determine the best possible loan offer for you.

Another possible reason especially via physical banking is that you may not have shared all of the information required in the application or provided invalid details.

However, there can be other reasons. As a responsible firm, we take steps to ensure we only extend credit to applicants who can afford it, so that our clients won’t become too indebted. It is possible that at this time, you don’t match the profile of individual we normally lend money to.

Negative repayment patterns on previous obligations (including Summer Green loans) can also limit access to credit, or make it more expensive to obtain.

How long does it take to process a Summer Green loan?

The entire process can be completed in no time! Once you complete our short application and accept the loan offer provided, your information is reviewed, and a loan decision is typically provided within 24 hours. If approved, funds will be received within a few moments of the application process being completed.

My current loan offer is too small! Can I get a higher loan amount?

The loan offer displayed to you is what we can provide at the time of application. This may vary in the future- as we see your loan repayment, we’ll also be able to provide loans that better suit your financial profile.

Does my account need to be funded before I apply for a loan?

Our loans are intended to meet your urgent cash needs, so we understand you may be low on funds at the time of application. However, on your first loan, we process a one-time card setup charge, which can be up to NGN100 when your loan is approved. This is done to verify that the debit/ATM card your repayment will be charged from is valid.

Why was I asked to open and maintain an Account for 4 months to access a business loan?

This is done to ensure that your business has a good cash flow and it can repay the loan requested. If your Business is new or you maintain a poor financial record, you will be requested to do so.

Can I reschedule my loan repayment date?

Please note that due dates are fixed when your loan is approved. We do not currently reschedule due dates, so please ensure that you make your repayment on/before your agreed due date in order to continue having this service available to you.

If I make an early repayment, will I pay less?

Early repayments are accepted and you can apply for a new loan immediately your previous loan is paid off.  However, please note that an early repayment does not imply that the terms of your loan obligation will change. Your repayment terms are fixed at the point of loan application and the total amount to be paid is not changed by an early repayment.

What happens if I don't pay back my loan?

We want to keep you as a customer, so please make every attempt to pay us back on time. If you find yourself in a situation that makes it difficult to make your scheduled repayment, please contact us immediately by sending an email to customer@summergreenng.com or call us.

We do our best to help our customers avoid these situations and the resulting consequences which can include:

  • Suspension of your access to our lending service
  • Reporting your account delinquency to multiple credit bureaus
  • Involvement with external collection agencies
  • Possible legal action

Remember, a positive outcome for you is a positive outcome for us, so let us assist you with work through and finding a solution to any issues you may face during the loan period.

Investment

Do I incur any charges on operating a savings account?

There are no charges on the operation of any account with Summer Green Microfinance Bank.

Can I negotiate for a higher interest rates on the fixed deposits?

All interest rates are negotiable depending on the amount the client is willing to invest.

What interest will I get on my savings?

The higher your deposit balances (savings), the higher the interest you earn. This is to encourage clients to develop a good habit of growing their deposit balances.

How much can I invest?

On each investment plan, qualifying investment amounts range from ₦5,000 to ₦10,000,000.

How is interest calculated?

Interest rates are calculated based on the investment tenor selected. The longer you lock in funds for, the higher your rates!

Can I have more than one investment plan?

Yes! At any point in time, you can create up to 3 (three) investment plans in your Summer Green app as well as Physical Banking. If you need to have multiple investments towards various goals (for example – a short 3-month investment via Kolo Savings towards a vacation you’re planning, or setting up a 12-month Bulk Investment at a higher interest rate) then we are just right for you.

Can I top up an existing investment?

No. However, if you wish to make additional investments, you can setup another investment plan and lock in the same rates.

What is a maturity date?

This is the beautiful day when your investment has completed the agreed time period, and you receive your full principal and interest payout to your account.

What happens in the event that I want a premature termination of my investment?

If your investment has remained with Summer Green Microfinance for at least half of the agreed tenor of the investment, then you will enjoy interest commensurate with your period of investment, thus your returns will be calculated based on the number of days your money has been with us.
